Contribution & Role: 'Creative Technologist'
As a four-year member and eventual Head of the Video Department, my role was to provide the core technical media infrastructure for the entire Dept. of Theatre.
This was not a passive role; I was the hands-on operator responsible for bridging creative concepts with technical reality. My duties were diverse:
Live Production: Managed live broadcasting and network operations for official department-wide events (assemblies, ceremonies).
Theatrical Tech: Acted as projection mapping assistant and operator for mainstage productions.
Media Production: Filmed and edited over 10 full-length performance archives, and produced all digital marketing content (teasers, highlights, timelapses).
Key Outcomes & Insights
This 4-year role provided me with a deep, practical foundation in the end-to-end technical workflow of a production, from creative planning to final execution.
It solidified my core belief that technical sense (shooting, editing, mapping, broadcasting) is a non-negotiable core competency for modern artistic design.
This experience directly built my hands-on skills in equipment management, live operations, and spatial media (projection mapping), establishing me as a reliable liaison between creative directors and technical teams.
